Issue three of “Judy Garland – a Celebration” - is devoted almost entirely to Judy’s early career; her childhood and teenage years. Much of the genius that shone through in her 1943 to late ‘40s M-G-M career, in later movies and on the concert stage throughout the 1950s and 60s is hinted at in her early years on stage, on film and on radio.

Celebration’s editor Gary Horrocks pays tribute to Judy’s early years with an extensively researched and beautifully compiled selection of quotes, anecdotes, reviews and insightful observations. Emmy Award winning Garland historian and honorary Club member John Fricke is a guest writer in this issue, providing a whirlwind overview of Judy’s breathtaking artistic output between 1924 and June 1942.

John Walther, who has researched Judy’s radio career for over twenty years, also contributes his insight into the first seven years of her career in this particular genre. Jonathan Summers, producer of an upcoming 2-CD box celebrating Judy’s work at Abbey Road Studios in London, recounts the huge efforts he had to make to bring this project to fruition.
